The regional seminar took place from 23 to 25 June 2008 in Freetown (Sierra Leone) at the Bintumani hotel to help strengthen the role of parliaments in English-speaking Africa in their national reconciliation processes. Organised by the IPU and hosted by the Parliament of Sierra Leone, it is the first activity under a three-year IPU project aimed at helping the Parliaments of Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda establish, monitor and follow up on the work of transitional justice mechanisms and strengthen inclusive political processes.
