The Conference brought together 164 participants, including members from 26 national parliaments from the Euro-Mediterranean region. The Conference identified responses to current migration challenges and opportunities and concrete steps that the parliaments of receiving, transit and countries of origin can take, including through the promotion of stronger regional and cross-regional coordination and cooperation, to help ensure fair, smart and humane migration. The outcome of the conference will also provide a parliamentary perspective to the negotiation of a Global Compact for safe, orderly and regular migration that will take place at the United Nations in 2018. |
