	The first World e-Parliament Conference will take place in Geneva on Thursday, 11 October 2007. The Conference will be an expert forum on the use of new technologies to modernize parliamentary processes and improve dialogue with citizens. It will provide an opportunity to debate the challenges and benefits provided by ICT and will analyze successful approaches, identify good practices and lessons learned. The Conference is being organised jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP), through the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament. The Conference is aimed at parliamentarians, Secretaries General and parliamentary staff and officials who work with ICT, such as legislative staff, IT administrators, knowledge managers and librarians. In addition to the Conference, parliamentary staff and officials are invited to take part in an international Workshop "e-Parliament: managing innovation" that will be organized by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament on Wednesday, 10 October. Following the Conference, the first face-to-face meeting of members of the Global Network of IT Experts in Parliament will take place on Friday, 12 October 2007. The Global Network was set up by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament in May 2007 as an online platform where IT experts can exchange information on the use of new technologies in parliament.
