The Committee considers draft legislation, international conventions, and all other matters concerning trade and tariffs. |
| Membership |
The Committee is composed of 15 members elected by the Chamber of Deputies at the start of each annual session. Members elect the Committee Chair, Rapporteur, and Vice-Rapporteur. |
| Working methods |
The Committee sets the dates and agenda of its own meetings and takes decisions by majority vote. The Committee's Rapporteur prepares a report for submission to the plenary for approval. A summary record of the Committee's deliberations is presented to the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.
The Committee regularly holds hearings to get testimony from members of the government and any other person it deems appropriate. Its meetings are held in closed session unless otherwise decided by the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies.

| Relations with other parliamentary bodies |
A bill or draft law may be considered by the Committee and other committees - and in particular the Committee on Foreign Affairs and External Relations and the Committee on Finance, Regional Development and Planning if it falls within their purview. One of the Rapporteurs acts as coordinator and prepares a report for submission to the plenary.
In addition, one or more committees may hold joint meetings to consider bills of particular importance. Such meetings are chaired by the Speaker of the Chamber, or one of the two Vice-Chairs or the Chair of the committee or committees concerned.

| Relations with external bodies |
A Committee member often participates in Tunisia's official delegations to major international conferences on trade and development financing. It reports to the other members of the Committee and members of the Chamber of Deputies to keep them informed of current developments. |
| Subjects dealt with |
During consideration of the draft 2005 financial legislation, the Committee held a hearing to get testimony from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Committee members requested clarification on Tunisia's position with respect to current negotiations within WTO, and in particular those concerning the agricultural and textile sectors as well as the repercussions of tariff elimination on the Tunisian economy. |
