| Mandate |
The Committee considers gender issues in the country, especially with a view to improving the status of women, and initiates activities within the country's institutions related to the implementation of international instruments on the protection of women and gender equality. It also reviews proposed laws and other regulations in respect of gender equality. |

The Committee is composed of nine members, appointed by the House of Representatives. Four of them are members of opposition parties. Composition by sex: 4 men (44.4%), 5 woman (55.6%) |
| Working methods |
The Committee follows the procedures established in the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives..The Committee holds ordinary sessions, public debates and hearings.
Functioning:
There is an Office of the Committee Secretary for Gender Equality, but currrently it is only staffed by one person (Committee Secretary). The Committee does not have its own budget. Activities and funds are obtained on the basis of its annual work plan. |
| Relations with other parliamentary bodies |
The Committee cooperates closely with other parliamentary committees and bodies, especially with the Committee on Human Rights, Children's Rights, Youth Migraton, Refugees, Asylum and Ethics and with the Parliamentary Group on Population and Development. |
| Relations with external bodies |
The Committee cooperates closely with the Gender Equality Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, gender centres, as well as UNDP in accordance with the Memorandum on Cooperation. |

Harmonization of legislation on media and public information regarding the Law on Gender Equality. |
