| Elections were held for all the seats in Parliament on the normal expiry of the members’ term of office. | |
|
|
| As opposed to the previous (January 1988) general elections, those of 1993 were contested by a new challenger to the ruling National and Democratic Union, namely the National and Progressive Action group. The latter made a breakthrough by winning two National Council seats while an independent candidate also met with success. The overall results nevertheless left the National and Democratic Union – founded in 1962 and supporter of the Head of State, Prince Rainier III – as the leading parliamentary group. The Minister of State (head of the four-member Council of Government) is Mr. Jacques Dupont. | |
