| A new Constitution entered into force in 2008. It provides that the National Congress shall be replaced by a 124-member National Assembly. Pending the election of the National Assembly in April 2009, a Legislative and Oversight Commission, comprising the members of the Constituent Assembly (which had drafted the 2008 Constitution), was formed on 25 October 2008 to assume the legislative and oversight functions. |
